On November 10, Ling Ji, Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, visited the China-Egypt Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the Teda Cooperation Zone) for an on-site research trip. He inspected the giant stone Egyptian glass fiber company, the Caidie Egyptian textile company, and the vocational skills training school built with Chinese assistance, gaining a deeper understanding of the park's operations, enterprise development, and local talent cultivation efforts. He also attended an investment exchange symposium hosted by Chinese-funded enterprises in Egypt.
At the investment exchange symposium, representatives from 22 key Chinese-funded enterprises spanning sectors such as construction, energy, finance, and manufacturing engaged in an in-depth discussion centered around the theme "Promoting High-Quality Development of China-Egypt Investment Cooperation." Leaders from eight prominent companies—including China State Construction Engineering Corporation, China Energy Engineering Group, China Development Bank, Teda Egypt Development Company, Haier Egypt, New Hope Egypt, XinXing Cast Pipe Egypt, and Geely Egypt—spoke one after another, sharing their insights on Egypt's market dynamics, investment and business performance, as well as the challenges and difficulties they face, along with policy recommendations. Ling Ji fully acknowledged the positive contributions made by Chinese enterprises in Egypt toward advancing Sino-Egyptian economic and trade cooperation, and actively engaged in a lively dialogue with participants on issues of mutual concern.
During his on-site visit to the cooperation zone, Ling Ji highly praised the achievements in the development and construction of the TEDA Cooperation Zone. He noted that, as a landmark project jointly built by China and Egypt under the Belt and Road Initiative, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has established an efficient and collaborative platform for enterprises, fostering strong industrial cluster effects and becoming a prominent model for China-Egypt capacity cooperation. He encouraged the zone to continue serving as a vital bridge, helping more Chinese-funded enterprises achieve high-quality growth in Egypt.
This investment exchange symposium was jointly organized by Tianjin TEDA Industrial Group Co., Ltd. and China-Africa TEDA Investment Co., Ltd., aiming to further foster consensus among Chinese enterprises operating in Egypt, bolster their confidence in deepening and expanding their presence in the Egyptian market, and inject fresh momentum into promoting high-quality development of China-Egypt investment cooperation.
After the survey concluded, Ling rushed to the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority in Egypt to attend the Intergovernmental Coordination Committee Meeting on Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation.
