Development status

The China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "TEDA Cooperation Zone") is a key economic and trade cooperation project promoted by China and Egypt. In November 2007, it won the bid in the second batch of cooperation zones of the Ministry of Commerce. In May 2009, it was officially confirmed as a national-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zone after being assessed by the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Finance. The TEDA Cooperation Zone covers an area of 7.34 square kilometers, of which the starting area covers an area of 1.34 square kilometers, all of which have been completed; the expansion area covers an area of 6 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers in the first phase have been officially transferred, and infrastructure construction has been completed. As of the end of 2018, there were 77 companies in the TEDA Cooperation Zone, with actual investment exceeding US $1 billion, sales exceeding US $1 billion, and 1 billion Egyptian pounds in taxes paid to the host country. Directly solve the employment of more than 3500 people, industry-driven employment of about 30000 people.

 

 

The starting area of the TEDA Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "starting area") covers an area of 1.34 square kilometers, with a total investment of 0.105 billion US dollars in development and construction. All development has been completed and the land has been sold out. The park has complete supporting facilities, including a Chinese small business incubator with 12 standard workshops; a comprehensive supporting service center including investment service buildings, four-star hotels and employee apartments; and supporting entertainment facilities such as TEDA Paradise. The starting area project has now formed a scale effect, and has initially formed four leading industries: new building materials, petroleum equipment, high and low voltage equipment, and machinery manufacturing. Each industry is driven by leading enterprises, including Jushi Company, Xidian Company, Fengshang (Muyang) Company, IDM Company, and other leading enterprises are developing well, and their economic benefits continue to grow, forming an industrial chain of "horizontal groups and lateral chains.

At present, there are 34 Chinese and foreign supporting service agencies in the park, including Suez Canal Bank, Societe Generale, China Shipping Company, Hanjin Logistics, Yangming Shipping, Suez Canal Insurance Company, Advertising Company and other agencies; in addition, the park also There are Chinese restaurants, bakeries, gymnasiums, staff clubs, libraries and other facilities, which enrich the amateur cultural life of the employees. The expansion area of the TEDA Cooperation Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "expansion area") covers an area of six square kilometers and is developed in three phases. The overall planned total investment is 0.23 billion US dollars. It is planned to attract 150-180 companies. It is expected to attract investment of 2 billion US dollars and achieve sales of 80-10 billion US dollars, providing about 40000 job opportunities.

Since the launch of the TEDA Cooperation Zone expansion project by the leaders of the two countries on January 21, 2016, after three years, with the strong support and care of the Chinese and Egyptian governments, TEDA has completed a series of work, such as park research and planning, industrial research and analysis, infrastructure construction, marketing and investment promotion, and has successfully attracted eight enterprises to settle in the TEDA Cooperation Zone, attracting an agreed investment of about 0.2 billion US dollars. Among them, the passenger car manufacturing industry cluster and the new building materials industry cluster are rapidly forming. These industrial clusters are gradually attracting upstream and downstream supporting enterprises to settle in, greatly promoting the economic and trade cooperation between China and Egypt.
