
The Egyptian Prime Minister witnesses the opening of the "Egyptian Butterfly" textile factory.

On February 27, Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by Major General Kamal Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and many senior officials including Walid Gamal Eldin, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority, visited the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone) for an inspection and attended the opening ceremony of the Egyptian Caibutter Textile Factory. Relevant leaders from TEDA Special Zone Development Company, Caibutter China Company, and Egyptian Caibutter Company received them.

This visit marks Prime Minister Madbouly's fifth visit to the TEDA Cooperation Zone, highlighting his deep concern and emphasis on the cooperation zone and the enterprises located there. During the event, Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the core role of the textile and weaving industry in Egypt's economic planning. He pointed out that Egyptian products, with their unique advantages, have significant competitiveness in regional and even global markets, and enhancing the export capacity of this industry is a key driver for promoting economic growth.

Kamal stated that the textile industry, as a key pillar of value-added industrial growth in Egypt, not only creates numerous job opportunities but also serves as an important driving force for national economic development. Currently, the country has developed a comprehensive development plan covering the entire production process, dedicated to creating high-quality end products.
Walid stated that the total investment for the Caibutter Egypt textile project, which was unveiled this time, is approximately 100 million USD, and it is expected to directly and indirectly create 4,500 job opportunities. He emphasized that the Suez Canal Economic Zone has been actively attracting global investment, providing a broad platform for the development of various industries.

The head of TEDA Egypt introduced that the TEDA Cooperation Zone is experiencing strong development momentum, with a total area of 7.34 square kilometers. Among them, the initial area of 1.34 square kilometers has been fully developed, with a total investment amount reaching 158 million USD. The development of the 6 square kilometer expansion area is also nearing completion, with an expected total investment of 230 million USD. Currently, the number of enterprises in the cooperation zone has reached 185, with actual landed investment exceeding 3 billion USD, directly addressing employment for nearly 10,000 people. In addition, the cooperation zone is also negotiating with the Egyptian government to plan an expansion of 2.8 square kilometers of land to meet the needs of more investment enterprises to set up factories.

During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Madbouly visited the factory workshop, observing the production processes of spinning, weaving, dyeing, and printing, and gaining a detailed understanding of the operation of each production line. During the visit, the head of Caibutter China Company provided a detailed introduction to the factory's main products, including textile fabrics and ready-made garments. This modern factory, covering an area of 250,000 square meters, was completed in just one year, starting construction in October 2023, finishing in October 2024, and beginning trial operation in January 2025. The first phase of the factory has been successfully completed, with a capacity of producing 10,000 tons of fabric annually, and an expected annual sales revenue of 35 million USD. The second phase is planned to start in March 2025, complete in October, and begin production operations in December. He also mentioned that the factory is equipped with a large number of advanced production equipment and strictly adheres to environmental protection standards. The company plans to establish a research laboratory to continuously promote textile technology innovation, ensuring high quality and strong competitiveness of its products.

During the visit, Prime Minister Madbouly had a friendly exchange with the young employees of the factory. Two young people from Qena Province shared their work experiences. They stated that the company provides convenient housing conditions for employees, and the monthly income is also satisfactory, making them feel motivated to work here.
At the end of the event, Prime Minister Madbouly took a group photo with the factory workers and extended his best wishes for the future development of the factory, hoping that it can play a greater role in promoting Egypt's economic development and creating job opportunities, becoming a model for industry development.
