On June 24, the Egyptian Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone’s operating entity, the Egyptian Teda Zone Development Company, and the Red Sea Container Terminal Company signed a cooperation agreement at the Teda Cooperation Zone’s Comprehensive Service Center. Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Egyptian Teda Zone Development Company, and Huang Jiahao, General Manager of the Red Sea Container Terminal Company, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective parties. This collaboration marks a pivotal step in advancing the Cooperation Zone’s integrated “port‑industry‑city” development strategy, with both sides leveraging port resources and park‑based industries to achieve deep synergy, thereby jointly enhancing regional supply chain efficiency and industrial competitiveness.
The Red Sea Container Terminal, located at the Port of Inshas on the western coast of the Red Sea near the southern entrance to the Suez Canal, is Egypt’s first semi‑automated container terminal. Officially commissioned in January 2026, it features a 1,200‑meter quay with berths and a 72‑hectare yard, designed to handle over 1.7 million TEUs annually. As one of the most modern container gateways along Egypt’s Red Sea coast, its operation has significantly enhanced port service capacity and cargo‑handling efficiency in the Gulf of Suez region.
Under the agreement, the TEDA Cooperation Zone and the Red Sea Container Terminal will establish a comprehensive business coordination mechanism. The two parties will engage in in-depth cooperation across areas such as customs clearance, warehousing and transshipment, logistics and distribution, and information sharing. Leveraging its state-of-the-art facilities and professional management, the Red Sea Container Terminal will provide efficient, convenient port services to enterprises operating within the TEDA Cooperation Zone, thereby effectively reducing their logistics costs. Meanwhile, the TEDA Cooperation Zone will capitalize on its industrial agglomeration advantages to consistently supply the terminal with stable cargo volumes, fostering a mutually beneficial synergy between port operations and industrial development.
This collaboration represents a key step in deepening the integrated “port‑industry‑city” development of the TEDA Cooperation Zone. As Suez Port is a vital hub along Egypt’s Red Sea coast, and the TEDA Cooperation Zone is the most mature, comprehensive industrial park within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the two entities enjoy geographically proximate locations and highly complementary business profiles. Following the signing of this agreement, the two sides will forge an even closer partnership, seamlessly connecting the entire value chain—from port to industrial park to market—thereby accelerating the flow of industrial, trade, and logistics resources between the Suez region and the TEDA Cooperation Zone. This will further enhance regional supply-chain efficiency and inject new momentum into local economic development and job creation.
