On June 17, local time, the groundbreaking ceremony for Langma Tire (Egypt) Co., Ltd. was held with great fanfare at the Sino-Egyptian TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone). Attending the ceremony were senior officials and corporate representatives from both China and Egypt, including Walid Jamal al-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone Authority; Hani Rashad, Governor of Suez Governorate; Xu Min, Chinese Consul General in Alexandria; Jin Yongsheng, Chairman of Chaoyang Langma Tire; and Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Egyptian TEDA Zone Development Company, who jointly laid the foundation stone for the project.
The project is slated to require an investment of US$190 million and will occupy a site of 200,000 square meters, marking Langma Tire’s second overseas production base after its facility in Pakistan. The project will be developed in two phases: Phase I, with an investment of US$130 million, will primarily establish a truck tire production line along with supporting infrastructure; Phase II, with an investment of US$60 million, is scheduled to commence in September 2028 and will span 12 months, focusing on expanding the heavy‑truck tire production line and building a passenger‑car tire production line. Upon full operational capacity, the plant will achieve an annual output of 4.5 million passenger‑car tires and 1 million heavy‑truck tires, creating approximately 1,500 local jobs.
Strategic Significance: Deepen China–Egypt industrial capacity cooperation and enhance the global footprint.
The successful launch of the Langma Tire project in Egypt marks another landmark achievement in the Teda Cooperation Zone’s efforts to align the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030. This project is not only the first industrial venture to be successfully implemented since the commencement of the Teda Cooperation Zone’s expansion phase, but it will also leverage Egypt’s strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe, as well as its free-trade agreements with the European Union and Arab countries, to penetrate markets across the Middle East, Africa, and even Europe, thereby further strengthening the cluster effect of the Teda Cooperation Zone in the automotive‑parts industry.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Jin Yongsheng, Chairman of Langma Tire, stated that the Egyptian plant represents a pivotal step in the company’s global expansion strategy. The company will draw extensively on its experience in building and operating its overseas facility in Pakistan, bringing advanced production technologies and manufacturing principles to Egypt, while also leveraging the strengths of a localized supply chain to truly achieve its goal of “rooted in Egypt, serving Africa, and reaching out globally.”
TEDA Empowerment: Efficient Collaboration from Signing to Groundbreaking
The Langma Tire project was officially signed and approved for entry into the TEDA Cooperation Zone in December 2025, witnessed by Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. From the signing to the groundbreaking ceremony, the project advanced with remarkable efficiency and smoothness, vividly demonstrating the seamless integration of “TEDA Speed” and “Egyptian Confidence.” In her address, Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Egypt TEDA Special Economic Zone Development Company, stated that the TEDA Cooperation Zone remains committed to providing enterprises with comprehensive, high‑efficiency support. The rapid progress of the Langma Tire project underscores the company’s strong confidence in the Egyptian market and in the prospects of China–Egypt cooperation. Moving forward, the TEDA Cooperation Zone will continue to optimize the business environment, strengthen industrial chain integration, and facilitate the implementation of more high‑tech and green‑industry projects, thereby contributing the “TEDA Power” to advancing Egypt’s industrialization and enhancing the region’s economic competitiveness.
