On November 5, 2025, Ji Guoqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the United Front Work Department, led a delegation to Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone to conduct a special research study on the development of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (hereafter referred to as the "TEDA Cooperation Zone"). Accompanying the delegation were Teng Fei, General Manager of Tianjin TEDA Industrial Group Co., Ltd.; Li Daixin, Chairman of China-Africa TEDA Investment Co., Ltd.; and Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Egyptian TEDA Zone Development Company, among others.
Ji Guoqiang and his delegation visited the TEDA Cooperation Zone Exhibition Hall. Li Daixin introduced that since the full-scale construction of the TEDA Cooperation Zone was launched in 2008, it has developed a robust "1+8" industrial system centered around bonded logistics, new building materials, new energy, white家电 (white household appliances), and chemicals. Significant achievements have been made in industrial planning, infrastructure development, and green, low-carbon initiatives. Meanwhile, Teng Fei noted that all land resources in both the TEDA Cooperation Zone's initial and expansion areas have already been sold out, and most plots in the extension area have also been largely pre-booked by companies. As a result, the park is experiencing strong overall growth momentum, with consistently high investor demand.
Ji Guoqiang highly praised the development achievements of the TEDA Cooperation Zone, expressing his hope that the park will firmly seize the critical milestone of 2026—the inaugural year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He emphasized the importance of capitalizing on the opportunities presented by China-Egypt joint efforts under the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as Egypt’s own developmental momentum. Additionally, he encouraged the park to strategically plan for spatial expansion and industrial upgrading, driving a digital and intelligent transformation in its service and operational models, ultimately setting a benchmark among China’s overseas economic and trade cooperation zones.
Teng Fei, representing the TEDA Cooperation Zone, expressed gratitude for the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Government's long-term support. He stated that, as a state-owned enterprise, TEDA will continuously elevate its political awareness, carefully balance both "economic considerations" and "broader strategic priorities," and diligently implement all deployment requirements to drive the TEDA Cooperation Zone toward higher-quality, more sustainable development.
Both the government and enterprises expressed their commitment to leveraging the strengths of united front work, jointly promoting the TEDA Cooperation Zone to play a greater role in serving national strategies and deepening China-Egypt economic and trade cooperation.
