On September 15, local time, Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, led a delegation comprising Russian entrepreneurs and representatives from business associations on a special visit to the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone), where they highly praised the zone's development achievements and its strategic significance. Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone in Egypt, accompanied the delegation.

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk (third from left) and Chairman of Egypt's Special Economic Zone Authority Walid Gamal Eddin (second from left) visited the TEDA Cooperation Zone.
Vice Premier Orvilchuk listened carefully to a detailed report on the significant achievements made by the TEDA Cooperation Zone since its launch—ranging from development and construction to industrial cluster formation and park-environment enhancements—and then conducted an on-site inspection of the expansion zone, reviewing both construction progress and investment promotion efforts. He remarked that the TEDA Cooperation Zone’s successful practices have been truly impressive, highlighting Egypt’s favorable investment climate and vast potential for growth. He expressed confidence that the Suez Canal Economic Zone (Special Economic Zone) will serve as an efficient platform and convenient gateway for Russian enterprises looking to enter the Egyptian market—and ultimately expand their reach across the African continent.

As a flagship cooperation project between China and Egypt, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has, after 17 years of development, evolved into a modern industrial park centered around manufacturing and logistics warehousing. It has attracted leading enterprises from various sectors, including top 500 Chinese companies and publicly listed firms. The zone’s industries span cutting-edge fields such as new building materials, oil equipment, high- and low-voltage electrical devices, machinery manufacturing, textiles, chemicals, new energy, and white household appliances—making it a vital engine driving Egypt’s industrialization, boosting employment, and fostering regional economic growth.
This visit marks a new step forward in economic cooperation between Russia and Egypt. The TEDA Cooperation Zone is not only a flagship project of China-Egypt collaboration, but also increasingly plays a pivotal role in broader international trade and economic partnerships. The arrival of the high-level Russian delegation, along with their strong endorsement, further underscores the strategic value of this platform as a vital link connecting the three major markets of Europe, Asia, and Africa.
