On the afternoon of August 30, President Xi Jinping met with Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly at the Tianjin Guest House. Madbouly was in China to attend the 2025 Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with the new China, and that China-Egypt relations are currently at their best historical period. Next year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both sides should take this opportunity to promote bilateral relations toward building a China-Egypt community with a shared future for the new era, inject new momentum into China-Arab and China-Africa relations, and make greater contributions to maintaining world peace and stability and promoting global development and prosperity.
Xi Jinping emphasized that under the new circumstances, China and Egypt should be steadfast brothers who support each other, continuously consolidate political mutual trust, and continue to support each other on issues involving core interests and major concerns. They should be good partners in deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, advancing the alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with Egypt’s Vision 2030, and leveraging cooperation in zones such as the Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone to strengthen collaboration in trade, joint manufacturing, new energy, and other fields. They should be close friends in multilateral cooperation, shoulder the historical mission and great power responsibilities as important members of the Global South, safeguard the achievements of the victory in World War II, jointly oppose unilateralism and bullying acts, and defend the international system centered on the United Nations and the international order based on international law.

Madbouly conveyed President Sisi’s sincere greetings and respect to President Xi Jinping. Madbouly stated that China is a true partner and friend of Egypt, with both sides always trusting and supporting each other. Egypt attaches great importance to relations with China, firmly adheres to the One-China principle, and is willing to take the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year as an opportunity to strengthen high-level exchanges, expand trade and investment, deepen cooperation in new energy, electric vehicles, finance, seawater desalination, and other fields, and promote greater development of bilateral relations. Both Egypt and China are developing countries and members of the Global South. Facing challenges in the world situation and international economic and trade fields, Egypt is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in international and regional affairs to safeguard the common interests of developing countries.
Cai Qi, Wang Yi, Chen Min'er, and others attended the meeting.
