Recently, the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone), a benchmark project for national-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zones, made a stunning appearance at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference. Following the conference, a joint government-enterprise investigation team from Zhaoqing City visited the TEDA Cooperation Zone, and both sides conducted in-depth discussions on cross-border cooperation.

At the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference, the TEDA Cooperation Zone became a focal point due to its mature operation model and remarkable achievements. Cao Hui, Executive Director of the Egypt TEDA Zone Development Company, gave a comprehensive introduction to the development history and core advantages of the cooperation zone to the attendees. After more than ten years of deep cultivation, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has built a three-in-one ecological system of "infrastructure + industrial clusters + value-added services." Its pioneering "full life cycle" service system for overseas parks effectively solves the problems of policy coordination, cultural integration, and localized operation in cross-border investment. Cao Hui expressed her hope that enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the TEDA Cooperation Zone will work together to innovate cooperation models and jointly explore the African market.
The conference attracted more than 400 participants, including Wang Weizhong, Governor of Guangdong Province; Zeng Guowei, Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government; Yu Yusheng, Chairman of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute; Zhao Liuqing, Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt; Mohamed Abu El-Enein, Deputy Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representatives; Walid Gamal El-Din, Chairman of the Suez Canal Economic Zone General Authority; Mohamed Gozlaki, Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Egypt; local dignitaries; well-known entrepreneurs; and representatives of business associations. A total of US$1.86 billion in cross-border cooperation projects were signed on-site, covering agriculture, new energy, and electronic information.

At the same time, a joint government-enterprise investigation team led by Liu Jingbo, member of the Standing Committee of the Zhaoqing Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor, visited the TEDA Cooperation Zone. Members of the investigation team included government representatives such as Kong Lingju, Director of the Zhaoqing Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Liang Wenjie, Deputy Secretary of the Gao Yao District Committee; Luo Mingxian, Section Chief of the Zhaoqing Municipal Bureau of Commerce; and Li Haosen, Deputy Director of the Zhaoqing Municipal Business Development Promotion Center, as well as 13 heads of key enterprises in the fields of home building materials, intelligent equipment, and new materials, forming a new cross-border investigation model of "government setting the stage and enterprises performing."
Representatives from the TEDA Cooperation Zone gave the investigation team a detailed presentation of the park's achievements and future plans. Liu Jingbo spoke highly of the "one-stop" overseas investment service platform built by TEDA, believing that the TEDA Cooperation Zone has solved the problems of localized operation for Chinese companies "going global." At the symposium, both sides discussed issues of concern to enterprises, such as Egyptian market access policies, production factor costs, and industrial chain support. Liu Jingbo clearly expressed support for Zhaoqing enterprises and the TEDA Cooperation Zone in jointly building a "park-within-a-park" project to promote industrial chain complementarity and resource sharing.
The two events highlighted the multi-dimensional value of the TEDA Cooperation Zone as a platform for China-Africa capacity cooperation. In particular, the pragmatic exchanges of the Zhaoqing investigation team have provided more certainty for Chinese companies in exploring the African market. In the future, the TEDA Cooperation Zone will continue to deepen its "full life cycle" services, promote the implementation of more cross-border projects, and help China and Egypt jointly build high-quality development of the "Belt and Road" initiative.
