A few days ago, sponsored by the Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce and co-organized by the World Resources Research Institute and the China Energy Research Association, the "Green Leadership · Promoting the High-Quality Development of Overseas Parks" seminar was successfully held. China-Africa TEDA Investment Co., Ltd. (referred to as China-Africa TEDA), the domestic operator of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (referred to as TEDA Cooperation Zone), was invited to attend.

The conference adhered to the concept of green and sustainable development, with the theme of accelerating the transformation of China's overseas economic and trade cooperation zones to high-quality development, and discussed the green and sustainable development models, cases and paths of the cooperation zones.
Zhang Wei, vice president of the Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce, Cao Yawei, second-level researcher and deputy director of the Foreign Investment and overseas Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone of the Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Commerce, Miao Hong, director of the Belt and Road Initiative Department and project development director of the Beijing Representative Office of the World Resources Institute (United States), Dai Yande, executive director of the China Energy Research Association and former director of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform and Reform and Reform and Reform Commission, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Experts at the meeting explored the feasibility of landing the International Guide for Industrial Parks in China and carrying out relevant international cooperation, put forward the idea of cooperative innovation to jointly promote the green development of overseas parks, shared the relevant cases of cost-effectiveness of Myanmar renewable energy projects and the application of distributed clean energy in Chinese parks, and discussed the path and international experience of the development of circular economy in the park.

Zhang Yixiang, Assistant General Manager of China-Africa TEDA Investment Co., Ltd.
Zhang Yixiang, assistant general manager of China Africa TEDA, put forward three suggestions at the meeting.
One is the idea. The development of the park is a dynamic and iterative process, from the initial focus on production, to focus on production and life, and then to focus on ecology in addition to production and life, and will pay attention to more areas in the future. At the beginning of overseas park planning, there is nothing wrong with seeking to live first, but only with long-term vision and scientific planning can we achieve stability and long-term development. When the TEDA Cooperation Zone started, it made corresponding plans; when it came to the planning of the expansion zone, it conducted in-depth research on production, life, ecology, and sustainable development. In the future, green development will be the main direction.
Second is the standard. Regarding the development of the park, many departments and organizations have corresponding standards, such as ESG, IFC, Equator Principles, EIA standards, performance standards, etc. The park construction standards sorted out by the International Guide to Industrial Parks of the South-South Cooperation Center have strong guidance. Green development is not just a matter for park developers. Enterprises in the zone and local governments should work together to build high-quality parks.
Three are tools. The Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce has set up a platform for cooperation departments, professional institutions and overseas parks to exchange experiences, reflect demands and solve problems. It is hoped that through this platform, the vast number of parks can connect with professional institutions and enterprises, so that green environmental protection and clean energy enterprises can enter overseas parks and promote green development together.
In addition to the TEDA Cooperation Zone, China-Saudi TEDA Industrial Park, China-Belarus Industrial Park, Laiki Free Trade Zone, Nigeria's Guangdong Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, China-EU Trade and Logistics Cooperation Park, Vietnam Longjiang Industrial Park, Pakistan's Rashakai Special Economic Zone, Morocco's Mohamed VI Tangier Science and Technology City, Serbia's China Industrial Park and Egypt's Mariculture Industry Chain Industrial Park also sent representatives to attend and conduct discussions and exchanges.
