Recently, the Boda New Energy (Egypt) photovoltaic manufacturing base, located within the China-Egypt Teda Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (Teda Cooperation Zone), officially began operations, marking a new milestone in China-Egypt cooperation on capacity building in the clean energy sector.
This base is a key manufacturing hub in Boda New Energy’s ELITE Solar overseas expansion strategy. With a total designed capacity of 5 GW—2 GW for high-efficiency photovoltaic cells and 3 GW for photovoltaic modules—it will establish an integrated production capability spanning from cells to modules. The base will primarily serve markets in the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America, providing efficient and reliable PV products to utility, commercial, and industrial customers worldwide.
On the eve of the plant’s commissioning, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made a special visit to the site to listen to a project briefing and officially inaugurate the factory, underscoring the Egyptian government’s high regard for the project and its pivotal role in Egypt’s development of new energy sources and the building of its industrial infrastructure. On the day of the commissioning ceremony, Boda New Energy invited customer representatives and partners from the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and other regions to tour the factory firsthand. Through on-site visits and exchanges, they gained a comprehensive understanding of Boda New Energy’s robust capabilities in N-type technology, production line management, and quality control.
Liu Jingqi, Chairman of Boda New Energy, stated that the Egyptian base is a key component of the company’s global manufacturing network. Relying on the platform advantages of the cooperation zone, the company will continue to promote technological upgrades and supply-chain collaboration, creating long-term value for its global customers. The operation of this base will also significantly boost local employment and the development of technical talent, enhancing the resilience and competitiveness of the regional clean-energy industry chain.
As a flagship industrial project within the TEDA Cooperation Zone, the construction and commissioning of Boda New Energy’s Egyptian base represent an important achievement in the zone’s ongoing efforts to optimize the business environment and deepen international capacity cooperation. The TEDA Cooperation Zone remains committed to building a bridge for China-Egypt economic and trade cooperation, providing enterprises with comprehensive investment services and localized support, and helping Chinese companies take root in Egypt and expand their global footprint.
In the future, the TEDA Cooperation Zone will continue to play its role as a platform, attracting more high-tech enterprises to set up operations there and fostering deeper cooperation between China and Egypt in fields such as green energy and smart manufacturing, thereby jointly contributing to global sustainable development.
