A shining pearl on the 'Belt and Road' - Egyptian political party representatives praise the Teda Cooperation Zone

Recently, the political office of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, together with a delegation of Egyptian political parties, conducted a comprehensive visit to the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Zone). The delegation included representatives from the Future of the Homeland Party, the Republican People's Party, the Wafd Party, the Homeland Protectors Party, the Conference Party, the Democratic Social Party, the Group Party, the Liberal Party, the Patriotic Movement Party, the Free Egyptians Party, the People's Voice Party, the Socialist Party, and the Alliance Party, as well as youth party leaders and members of the Political Coordination Committee, representatives from the Egyptian News Agency, and media representatives from Pyramid News, Middle East News Agency, Cairo 24, News Report, Republic Online, Phoenix TV, and Xinhua News Agency, totaling over 40 people. After on-site inspections and in-depth exchanges, the delegation highly praised the TEDA Zone, calling it a model of cooperation with great potential and demonstration significance under the Belt and Road Initiative, a brilliant pearl along the Belt and Road.

In the TEDA Journey Exhibition Hall, Ahmed Yahia, Assistant to the Executive President of the TEDA Special Zone Development Company, provided the delegation with a detailed introduction to the efforts and achievements of the cooperation zone in promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and Egypt and assisting Chinese enterprises in 'going global.' He stated that the TEDA Zone, as an important platform for the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Egypt, has successfully established an excellent platform for the 'five connectivity' between the two countries. TEDA has always actively fulfilled its corporate citizenship responsibilities and has won praise from all sectors of Egyptian society.

Cao Hui, Executive Director of the TEDA Special Zone Development Company, introduced that as of the end of September this year, the TEDA Zone has attracted 175 enterprises to settle in, with an actual investment amount of approximately 3 billion USD, sales of nearly 4.9 billion USD, and tax contributions of about 300 million USD. Cao Hui stated that the TEDA Zone has also created nearly 10,000 direct employment opportunities in Egypt. He said, 'Given Egypt's strategic location and the good relations between the two countries, the TEDA Zone has become a demonstrative platform for economic and trade cooperation between China and Egypt.'

Wang Zijuan, a counselor at the political office of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, pointed out that the current China-Egypt relationship is at its best historical period, with the heads of state of both countries personally and continuously injecting strong momentum into China-Egypt cooperation. The TEDA Zone, jointly built by China and Egypt, is a model project of cooperation between the two countries, providing tens of thousands of employment opportunities directly or indirectly to the local population.

During the visit, the delegation was deeply impressed by the well-developed infrastructure, modern industrial layout, and vibrant business atmosphere of the cooperation zone. They visited several enterprises within the park, covering various fields such as manufacturing and high-tech industries, and gained a detailed understanding of the enterprises' operational models, production processes, and integration with the local economy.

The TEDA Zone's important role as a platform for China-Egypt economic and trade cooperation is evident. Amr Suleiman, spokesperson for the Homeland Protectors Party, said, 'What we saw today in the TEDA Zone—the commercial scale of over 7 square kilometers, the Chinese enterprises settled here, and the technology transfer to Egypt—is exactly what we have always hoped to achieve through cooperation with China, and now all of this is happening.' Suleiman stated that the TEDA Zone is a 'true reflection' of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Egypt and China, embodying the pursuit of common development under China's Belt and Road Initiative, and contributing to Egypt's Vision 2030 for sustainable development.

The TEDA Zone has attracted the presence of China's top 500 enterprises and even the world's top 500 enterprises, exceeding the expectations of the visiting delegation. Ali Abdel-Wadud, a member of the Wafd Party's Foreign Relations Committee, directly stated after visiting the Midea factory, 'I feel that the prospects for the TEDA Zone are very broad. This is my first visit to this cooperation zone, and I did not expect to see such a large-scale industry. I was surprised to find that some products I might have at home were produced here, which I had no idea about before.' He said, 'As I saw today, many leading Chinese enterprises have settled in this cooperation zone, which is a strong impetus for investment and industrial cooperation between Egypt and China under the Belt and Road Initiative.'

Since its establishment, the TEDA Zone has attracted a large number of domestic and foreign enterprises, creating considerable employment opportunities, tax revenue, and export earnings for Egypt, while also driving the coordinated development of local related industrial chains, effectively promoting Egypt's industrialization process. At the same time, the cooperation zone emphasizes technological innovation and talent cultivation, collaborating with local universities and research institutions to train a group of professional technical talents for Egypt, promoting the improvement of Egypt's industrial level.

The delegation unanimously agreed that the TEDA Zone is a vivid embodiment of the friendly cooperation between China and Egypt, showcasing the strong power of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting bilateral economic and trade cooperation and achieving mutual benefits. The resources and vitality gathered here inject new momentum into Egypt's economic development and set a benchmark for international and regional cooperation.

This visit further deepened the understanding and recognition of the TEDA Zone among various sectors in Egypt, laying a solid foundation for the future expansion of cooperation areas and deepening cooperation connotations between China and Egypt under the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
