China-Africa TEDA Attends "China-Africa Investment Cooperation High-Quality Development Seminar"

On October 21, the 2024 China-Africa Investment Cooperation High-quality Development Seminar jointly sponsored by the China-Africa Development Fund and the Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce was held in Beijing.
The theme of the seminar is "Promoting China-Africa Dream Modernization with High-quality Development of Investment Cooperation", which is an achievement of the implementation of the "Beijing Action Plan" adopted by the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2024. Representatives from government departments such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, the Ministry of Commerce, and the National Agency for International Development Cooperation, China Development Bank, African Mission to China, representatives of the African Union in China, representatives of more than 40 African embassies in China, representatives of Chinese academic circles, business representatives and More than 300 people from international organizations attended the meeting. The seminar set up three themes: China-Africa infrastructure cooperation, China-Africa health cooperation and China-Africa industrial chain cooperation. Wei Jianqing, general manager of China-Africa TEDA, as a seminar guest, discussed with African envoys to China, representatives of international institutions, and Chinese politics, industry, academia, and research on the theme of "taking multiple measures to strengthen China-Africa industrial chain cooperation". Put forward suggestions for the high-quality development of investment cooperation.
Wei Jianqing believes that the overseas cooperation zones built and operated by Chinese enterprises provide a high-quality cooperation platform for China's high-quality products, production capacity, and industrial chain to go to sea, connect with African production factors, expand international markets, help China-Africa development, and jointly realize modernization. The 175 Chinese and foreign enterprises in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone have made great contributions to promoting the social process of Egypt and promoting the development of the industrial level. The TEDA Cooperation Zone not only implements its own low-carbon sustainable development path, but also actively responds to the call for "Green Development Partnership Action", cooperates with the Egyptian government's national low-carbon strategy, encourages enterprises to pay attention to environmental protection, and strives to attract new energy and green low-carbon projects to promote Egypt Green and low-carbon development contributes to the high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation.
"During the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, the TEDA Cooperation Zone signed contracts of more than 1 billion U.S. dollars with 6 well-known companies in the industry, many of which involved green and low-carbon projects such as photovoltaic glass, chlor-alkali chemicals, and solar cells." Wei Jianqing said.
At the meeting, the "Report on China-Africa Health and Agricultural Cooperation under the Framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation" organized and compiled by the Research Institute of the Ministry of Commerce was released. The report puts forward relevant policy recommendations for further deepening China-Africa cooperation in the fields of health and agriculture. The China-Africa Green Industry Chain Special Fund established by the China-Africa Development Fund was also officially launched at the meeting. The special fund is an important part of the "Green Development Partnership Action" in the "Ten Partnership Actions" of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in 2024, with a scale of 5 billion yuan equivalent to RMB. It will be mainly used to support cooperation in the upper, middle and lower reaches of the green industry chain between China and Africa, and promote the development of clean energy, green transportation, green minerals and green upgrading of traditional industries in Africa.
