Egypt's "Voice of the Nation" website published an article on July 28, originally titled: China-Africa trade hit a record high.
In recent years, the cooperation between China and Africa has been continuously deepened, with fruitful results and full of vitality.
First, the direction of cooperation is clear. There are many mechanisms for international cooperation with Africa, and there is never a shortage of plans and commitments, but the key is whether Africa's concerns and priorities are taken seriously. China's cooperation with Africa is part of South-South cooperation and is based on equality and voluntariness. Such cooperation does not follow the old path of Western powers and does not harm the long-term interests of Africa. China upholds the concept of true affinity and sincerity and the correct concept of justice and interests, does not interfere in Africa's internal affairs, does not impose its will on others, and does not attach any political conditions. China has blazed a path of win-win cooperation with Africa.
China-Africa cooperation is oriented to the needs of Africa. In recent years, in order to cooperate with the African Union's "Agenda 2063", China has proposed the "Ten Major Cooperation Plans", "Eight Major Actions" and "Nine Projects" for Africa under the framework of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation ". In August 2023, at the China-Africa Leaders' Dialogue, China announced the "Support for African Industrialization Initiative", "China Helps African Agricultural Modernization Plan", and "China-Africa Talent Training Cooperation Plan" measures, demonstrating China's firm determination to support African modernization.
Second, people-oriented. Promises are always fulfilled, which is the characteristic of China's cooperation with Africa. In the year when the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation was established, China established a follow-up committee to ensure that the policies and measures proposed by the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation were implemented.
Decades of efforts have yielded fruitful results in China-Africa cooperation. China has been Africa's largest trading partner for 15 consecutive years. In 2023, the trade volume between the two sides reached 282.1 billion billion US dollars, a record high. China is the developing country with the largest investment in Africa. By the end of 2022, China's stock of direct investment in Africa will exceed $40 billion billion. More than 3000 Chinese companies have invested in Africa, creating a large number of local employment opportunities, helping the upgrading and transformation of the African industrial chain, and increasing the added value of African products.
Third, innovation drives the future. The vitality of China-Africa relations comes from the spirit of innovation. The digital economy and green development have created important opportunities for Africa's economic transformation, climbing to the high end of the global industrial chain, and achieving economic catch-up. These are also new growth areas where China-Africa cooperation can play a comparative advantage. China strongly supports the digitalization process in Africa and has participated in the construction of a number of submarine optical cable projects connecting Africa with Europe, Asia and the Americas. China is also an important partner in Africa's energy transition. China has implemented hundreds of clean energy power generation and grid projects in Africa to help African countries make better use of solar, hydro, wind and geothermal energy.
This autumn, Chinese and African leaders will meet again in Beijing. China and Africa will reaffirm their commitment to China-Africa friendship and cooperation, and open up new prospects for the high-quality development of China-Africa cooperation and the joint realization of modernization and exchange of ideas.
