For a week, the eyes of the world were drawn to the Suez Canal. A giant cargo ship named "Long Ci" ran aground, causing 300 or 400 cargo ships to wait anxiously. At present, although the blockage has been lifted, it will take a few days for the canal to fully resume normal traffic. For this "century big ship blocking", Tianjin people on the coast of Bohai Sea are not only concerned, but also deeply concerned. Because the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, invested and operated by TEDA Holdings, happens to be adjacent to the Suez Canal and is only 2 kilometers away from the Insuhana Port, Egypt's third largest port. As a landmark project of China-Egypt cooperation to jointly build the "Belt and Road", what is the situation in the TEDA Cooperation Zone?
The reporter connected with the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone through TEDA Holdings, and the latest news was: The cooperation zone has played a very active role in relieving the pressure of stagnation in Hong Kong!
The front told reporters that during the blockage of the Suez Canal, the TEDA Cooperation Zone immediately docked with the Egyptian Customs and Port Management Company. "The TEDA Cooperation Zone completed a bonded warehouse that was put into operation last year, which was of great use at a critical moment. Over the past few days, more than 2000 containers have been transported every day, and the storage yard is full. Some of these containers have been transferred and some have been left in the storage yard. At the end of a week, at least 7000 containers have been relieved, greatly easing the storage pressure of Insuhana Port."
Not only that, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has also helped three enterprises entering the zone, including K & I International, to solve the customs clearance problem. "If the goods are stuck in the port for one day, the enterprise will have to pay an extra day's demurrage fee. And if the goods cannot be shipped out, the production schedule of the enterprise will also be affected, and if the goods cannot be delivered in time, the losses it will face can be imagined." Li Chentao, a development company in the Egyptian Teda Special Administrative Region, said. Over the past few days, Li Chentao and his team have been coordinating with Egyptian customs and ports non-stop. Taking advantage of the "inside and outside customs" attribute of the TEDA cooperation zone, they have successfully pulled some containers of the three enterprises to the cooperation zone for temporary storage and cleared them by the customs stationed in the cooperation zone, thus winning valuable time for the enterprises.
In December last year, TEDA Egypt's bonded warehouse received official approval from the Egyptian General Administration of Customs, allowing it to engage in empty and heavy container storage and bonded goods storage business, and designated Suez Customs for business jurisdiction and customs supervision. It is worth mentioning that TEDA Egypt bonded warehouse is also the only Chinese funded project in Egypt that can carry out international logistics bonded and general trade and re export trade, which is specially approved by the Egyptian government. The project covers an area of 130000 square meters and mainly includes public bonded warehouses, export distribution export supervision warehouses, import and export commodity display and trading halls, and import and export commodity logistics distribution centers.
