A few days ago, Vice Minister of Commerce Qian Keming and the First Secretary of the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry McGowli co-chaired the eighth meeting of the China-Egypt Economic and Trade Joint Committee by video to exchange views on implementing the consensus of the leaders of the two countries and deepening mutually beneficial economic and trade cooperation.
Qian Keming said that under the care and guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Sisi, the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership has been continuously upgraded and upgraded, and bilateral economic and trade cooperation has continued to develop, setting a model of unity and cooperation among developing countries. China has become Egypt's largest trading partner for eight consecutive years, and the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone has attracted more than 100 enterprises to settle in. Since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, Egypt was one of the first countries to provide solidarity and material assistance to China in its fight against the epidemic, and China has also provided much-needed medical material assistance to Egypt.
Qian Keming emphasized that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, and the economic and trade cooperation between the two sides has stood at a new starting point. China is willing to work closely with Egypt to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries in the economic and trade field, build a high-quality "Belt and Road", promote a more balanced development of trade, rely on the economic and trade cooperation zone to stimulate investment in Egypt, and actively promote infrastructure and Cooperation in the digital field, extend cooperation in the agricultural industry chain and intensify exchanges between small and medium-sized enterprises, while continuing to strengthen development assistance cooperation in the fight against epidemics, and push China-Egypt economic and trade relations to a new level.
McGally said that the relations between China and Egypt have been friendly for a long time. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 65 years ago, bilateral economic and trade relations have made great progress, and rich achievements have been made in the fields of trade, investment and infrastructure. The Egyptian side is very grateful to China for its help in Egypt's fight against the epidemic, and is willing to further strengthen the alignment of development strategies with China and deepen cooperation in building the Belt and Road. The Egyptian side welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest in Egypt on the platform of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with Chinese quality inspection, customs, agriculture and other departments to expand the export scale of Egyptian high-quality agricultural products to China. At the same time, Egypt also looks forward to expanding cooperation with Chinese enterprises and financial institutions in the field of infrastructure, and promoting cooperation in new fields such as digital economy and new energy.
after the meeting, the two sides signed relevant cooperation documents. Prior to this meeting, the two sides held the third meeting of the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Inter-government Coordination Committee. In the near future, the two sides will also hold supporting activities such as the China-Egypt Trade Relief Cooperation Mechanism Conference and the China-Egypt Economic and Trade Cooperation Seminar.
