The China-Egypt "Double Port and Two Zones" Joint Development Promotion Association was held on the 17th in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (TEDA Cooperation Zone) in Suez Province, Egypt. At the meeting, institutions and enterprises from China and Egypt signed a number of memorandums of understanding on cooperation.

Xie Yuan, vice mayor of Tianjin, said in his speech that the cooperation between Tianjin and Egypt is an important part of China Egypt cooperation. The TEDA Cooperation Zone is a landmark project for the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and the development plan of the Suez Canal Corridor in Egypt. Hundreds of Chinese-funded enterprises in the cooperation zone have promoted local employment and taxation, and injected impetus into local economic development.

Walid Jamaldin, chairman of the General Administration of Egypt's Suez Canal Economic Zone, said in his speech that he hopes to attract more Chinese companies to invest and will cooperate with China in various fields to promote the landing of industries in Egypt and expand exports while meeting local consumer demand.

Qu Defu, chairman of Tianjin TEDA Investment Holdings Co., Ltd., said that Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest in the cooperation zone, and look forward to local Egyptian enterprises to come and cooperate to enhance the industrial level and international market competitiveness.

According to reports, as of April 2024, the TEDA Cooperation Zone has attracted investment of more than 3 billion U.S. dollars, with a cumulative total output value of more than 4.8 billion U.S. dollars, directly solving more than 9000 jobs, and industry-driven employment of about 70000 people.
